IRON Child: Low iron, iron supplementation and child health outcomes
Description
One in three of children in WA suffer with iron deficiency leading to poor sleep, fussy eating, and behavioural difficulties. Iron deficiency causes impaired childhood neurocognitive development and associated with reduced mental health, neurodevelopmental disorders and ADHD. Childhood mental health issues are an increasing in WA with significant societal costs and healthcare costs. The ORIGINS Project presents a unique platform to investigate the development of these associations with childhood mental health. The aim of this study is to develop mechanisms to prevented and treated the problems before they become clinically significant and translate are to other communities to improve childhood wellness.Suitable for PhD CandidateSCHOLARHIP VALUE: $105,000 AUD
