Title
Investigation of Novel Formulation Chemistries and Polymer Membranes for in vitro and in vivo Electrochemical Continuous Lactate Sensing
Description
The goal of this project is to develop novel biosensors for continuous monitoring of lactate levels in the body. Lactate is a key indicator of metabolic function and is particularly important in the context of medical conditions such as fetal monitoring, sepsis, during surgery and sports performance. Currently available biosensors for lactate measurement are limited by their accuracy, stability, and lifespan. This project aims to overcome these limitations through the development of innovative formulation chemistries and polymer membranes. This unique opportunity will provide exposure to global collaborators and world-leading scientistsThis project is an excellent opportunity for a PhD candidate with a background in chemistry, materials science, or a related field to work on a cutting-edge technology that has the potential to transform the way patients are monitored. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic, VC-backed start-up and to be at the forefront of developing new technologies that have the potential to improve people's health and well-being. The placement will involve collaborating with CRC-P partners at Vital Trace, UWA, Monash University, University of Technology Sydney, D&I, and Zimmer & Peacock.
