Applications are invited to apply for an internship at the IMDEA Software Institute, Madrid, Spain under the supervision of Dr. Juan Caballero and Dr. Pedro Moreno-Sánchez.
The candidate will work on our platform for tracing cryptocurrency flows. The work will focus on applying machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) techniques to identify different blockchain-related services (e.g., exchanges, mixers, gambling sites). We will also explore the porting of our Bitcoin tracing infrastructure to other blockchains like Ethereum. The internship results could be part of an academic publication and/or form the basis of a MSc thesis. Candidates that excel may be offered a PhD position.
Who should apply?Candidates should have an excellent MSc or BSc degree in computer science or a related discipline. Candidates should have an interest in computer security, blockchain, and machine learning. Python programming and tool building skills are required. Good command of English both spoken and written is required.
Working at IMDEA SoftwareThe position is based in Madrid, Spain, where the IMDEA Software Institute is situated. The institute provides for travel expenses and an internationally competitive stipend. The working language at the institute is English.
DatesThe ideal duration of the position is from May 2023 to December 2023, but dates can be negotiated.
