Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network NANOREMEDI-programme in “Functional Nano-Scaffolds for Regenerative Medicine” stems from six Doctoral Courses/Schools at six beneficiary institutions, providing research and training in the field of nanomaterials for Regenerative Medicine. An active contribution of enterprises in training activities is a relevant feature of the programme.

The scientific approach proposed by NanoReMedi Consortium is strongly multidisciplinary and will involve a number of different state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies. Expected results are:
13 ESR PhD positions are offered by the Consortium related to different and multidisciplinary projects strongly interconnected involving different state- of-the-art technologies and methodologies: Computational chemistry; Chemical synthesis/peptide synthesis; Peptide based Nanomaterials (Soft materials/Hydrogels/Electrospinning) preparation and spectroscopic characterization; Production of vein graph; 3D-tissue fabrication; Biofilm prevention; Electrostimulated release of antimicrobial peptides
Each ESR will attend the following training activities: i) advanced courses and soft and transferable skill courses provided by University's doctorate courses/schools; ii) multidisciplinary courses/Summer delivered by NanoReMedi Network at the general Network Meetings/; iii) Nine-months secondment at one of the Beneficiary jointly awarding the doctoral degree to improve research methods complementary to those at home institution; iv) Three-months secondment at one of the enterprise where ESRs are expected to acquire complementary skills.
One position is available at the University of Montpellier, France, in research project n°10. Project Title: MSCs-laden scaffolds for osteochondral repair
Objectives : Development of bi-functional scaffolds allowing both bone and cartilage synthesis in a spatially controlled manner
1) Synthesis of hybrid hydrogels by introduction of triethoxysilanes onto biopolymers (chitosan/gelatin/hyaluronan) and bioactive peptides
2) Preparation of functional hybrid hydrogels by the sol-gel process.
3) Characterization of the hydrogels: physicochemical (mechanical properties, stability/degradation, swelling) and biological (cytotoxicity, cell adhesion, proliferation, differentiation)
4) Cell encapsulation within the hydrogels
5) 3D printing of the cell-laden hydrogels into multi-layer scaffolds
9 months of secondment at UMIL for Tuning of hydrogels performance by insertion of unnatural amino acids and/or molecular scaffolds
3 months of enterprise secondment at Lynxter for 3D printing optimisationBenefits
Each ESR will receive a 36-month grant to cover his/her participation costs, living, travel and installation allowance, family allowance, as follows:
Living allowance 3.957,60€/month (This amount varies because of the application of a correction coefficient to the living allowance of the country in which the researcher will be recruited.)
Mobility allowance 600€/month
Family allowance 495€/month
Total grant (36 months) 184.893,60€
The cost of the PhD educational activities, as well as all expenses related to travels performed to attend schools, workshops, and network-organized events, will be planned and sustained by the network through the HORIZON EUROPE MSCA- DOCTORAL NETWORK grant (Institutional Costs).
The ESR will be provided with office space and all facilities for his/her research programme.Eligibility criteria
