  • The main objective of this project is to design new magnetic nanohybrids using different nanochemistry and physicochemical microfluidic approaches with optimized physicochemical and physical properties that can be further used for life science applications.

    Design new magnetic nanohybrids optimized for life science applications.

    Magnetic nanoparticles have been particularly studied in the last decades, mainly because of their interesting magnetic properties and the versatility of their surface functionalization. Indeed, their high saturation magnetization values and superparamagnetic character can be used for many important applications, including magnetic resonance imaging, sensing, drug delivery, thermal therapies by magnetic hyperthermia or, more recently, for their optical properties in photothermal applications. Combining magnetic nanoparticles with other materials would result in multifunctional nanoplatforms capable of performing different tasks at the nanoscale, sometimes with new properties developed by the synergies.

    Eligibility criteria

    Candidates should have obtained a PhD in colloidal/physical chemistry with expertise in engineering (synthesis and surface modification) of magnetic nanoparticles by high temperature methods (thermal decomposition methods) including their characterization and characterization. Additional experience in the synthesis of other nanomaterials (metal, semiconductors, etc.) and nanohybrids and their characterization is appreciated. The successful candidate must have the drive and enthusiasm to take the project from basic research to design. He/she must be able to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will be curious and enjoy solving problems and developing new technologies with creativity and innovation.
