  • The Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP) hereby opens this Call for Applications for one research grant for the project “PTDC/GES- URB/2038/2021 - Climatic adaptation for elderly people residing in vulnerable urban areas” supported by national funds by FCT/MCTES, and developed at FFUP.

    1. Research field / Scientific area: Health Sciences and/or Social Sciences

    2. Admission requirements:

    To apply for the research grant, applicants must comply with the following requirements, for which documentary evidence must be provided:

    a) Enrollment in a PhD Program in the fields of Health Sciences and/or Social Sciences

    b) Holding a Bachelor and/or Master's Degree in Health Sciences and/or Social Sciences

    If the candidate holds a doctoral degree awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must be recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution, in accordance with the provisions of article 25 of Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16 August, which approves the legal regime for the recognition of academic degrees and higher education diplomas awarded by foreign higher education institutions and Article 4 (2) (e) of Decree-Law no. 60/2018 of 3 August, and any formalities established therein be fulfilled up to the date of the contracting act.

    3. Preferred requirements:

    a) Having experience in conducting systematic literature reviews and/or Ethnographic Studies

    b) Fluency in written and spoken English language

    c) Immediate availability January 2, 2023, (to be declared in the application letter)

    4. Work Plan:

    The workplan will focus on the issue of elderly people in vulnerable urban areas, and will contemplate the development of literature systematic reviews and ethnographic studies.

    5. Applicable Legislation and Regulations:

    Portuguese Law no. 40/2004, dated August 18 (Scientific Research Fellow Statute) in its current wording; Regulation 184/2021 of 3 March, as amended by Resolution No. 1301/2021, published in D.R., 2nd series, on 22 December 2021; FCT's Regulation for Research Studentships and Fellowships, approved by the Regulation no. 950/2019, dated November 29; Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16th (Legal regime for recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of higher education awarded by foreign higher education institutions).

    6. Workplace:

    The work will be developed in Faculty of Pharmacy/Department of Biological Sciences/Biochemistry Lab, under the scientific supervision of Professor Elísio Costa.

    7. Duration:

    The scholarship as a duration of 24 months, on an exclusive basis.

    8. Monthly maintenance allowance amount:

    The monthly maintenance allowance is 1.144,64€, according to FCT. Payment will be made by FFUP by bank transference. In addition, the grant holder will be covered by personal accident insurance.

    9. Evaluation methods:

    CV analysis (CV), Application Letter (AL) and Availability and, should the jury deem it necessary a selection interview (I) to the top 3 applicants, after the CV. Final classification will be obtained using the following formula: 0,3 x CV + 0,2 x AL + 0,4 I. In case there is no interview stage, final classification will be the same as the one resulting from the CV and AL analysis.

    Criteria for evaluation of the Application Letter (AL):

    Motivation for performing the tasks:

    a) Low adequacy of motivation – 6 points

    b) Adequate motivation – 12 points

    c) Very good motivation – 14 points

    d) Excellent motivation – 16 points

    Availability: 4 additional points in case of immediate availability.

    If the interview (I) takes place it will represent up to 5 points increase of the final classification.

    The interviews intend to obtain clarifications on the curricular elements and additional information, as well as assess the attitude and motivation of the applicants.

    The factors to be considered are (on a scale of 0 to 5)

    a) Attitude (evaluation of the applicant's behavior in terms of analysis, planning and organization, team work, deadline compliance, multitasking and autonomy).

    b) Motivation

    c) Specific knowledge for the development of the workplan

    d) Expression skills

    In the event that the selected scholarship holder withdraws, the final ranking list of candidates in this competition may be used to replace them, until December 2022. If none of the candidates demonstrates that they have the profile indicated to carry out the work plan, the jury reserves the right not to award the scholarship to the competition.

    11. Disclosure of the results:

    Evaluation results will be communicated by email to the address provided by the candidates in the application form.

    In compliance with the provisions of the Article 121 of the Code of Administrative Procedure (“Código do Procedimento Administrativo”), after being notified, candidates have 10 working days to submit a formal rebuttal.

    The final decision must be taken within a maximum period of 60 working days after the conclusion of the

    preliminary hearing of interested parties or of the public consultation. Against the final decision, a complaint

    may be filed, within 15 working days, or, alternatively, an appeal may be filed within 30 working days,

    both counting from the respective notification. Candidates who choose to submit a complaint, must address

    their statement to the member of the Board of Directors of the FCT with delegated competence. Candidates

    who choose to present an appeal must address the same to the FCT Board of Directors.

    12. Submission of applications:

    The Call for Applications is open until 10 working days, 29 th, 2022.
