Job descriptionThe candidate is expected to conduct research into the development and implementation of a virtual testing environment (for design) and digital twins (for operation) for assessing the value and profitability of local energy communities, optimizing (system) design and developing control strategies. Based on specification of the Internet-of-Energy models, integration of the community and grid models will be developed to yield synchronized relevant data and scenarios for decision-making. It focuses on possible clusters of energy communities to realize viable business models by staking possible energy and market values into account. Enabling such a “digital twin” will ease validation of the scenario-based operation and control strategies for energy communities with the detailed models or even hardware components, i.e. Hardware In-the-Loop (HIL) and Control In-the-Loop (CIL) simulations. The candidate will implement the developed platform in the KPN Data Services Hub to connect the assets in Bunnik to the platform, monitor the measurement data and control them in real-time. Finally, the candidate needs to design a dashboard to visualize the measurement data, results from the control strategies and calculated KPIs.
Are you eager to get involve into the digitalization process of the energy sector, to develop and implement a digital-twin platform for designing, developing and optimizing control strategies to maximize the value and profitability of Local Energy Communities? Are you our next Eng.D. trainee in the Eng.D. program SBC Smart Buildings & Cities? If so, you will enjoy the position very much.
