Doctoral researcher/Project researcher in LCA of energy systems/thermal conversion
The University of Turku is a world-class multidisciplinary research university that offers interesting challenges and a unique vantage point for national and international research and education. University of Turku is extending its research to materials and mechanical engineering, and from the beginning of 2021, a Faculty of Technology was started and with it, Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, and new research position in that field is now opened.
We are looking for a fixed-term Doctoral researcher/project researcher in life cycle assessment (LCA) of energy systems/thermal conversion. The starting time for this position would be 01.03.2023, or upon mutual agreement, and the contract duration will be until the 31st of August 2024 with the possibility of an extension.
The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering of the University of Turku is looking for one Doctoral candidate/project researcher to join the group of Industrial Engineering and Management to be supervised by Associate Professor Oskar Karlström.
The candidate is required to have either an engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering or related field background. It is an advantage if the Doctoral researcher/Project researcher has experience in life cycle assessment and in LCA software (simapro/gabi) or matlab.
The qualification requirements of the positions are stated in the University of Turku rules of Procedure. A person selected for the post of doctoral researcher/project researcher is required to have a higher university degree. In addition, when acquiring his or her degree or otherwise, a doctoral researcher is required to have demonstrated the ability and motivation to undertake postgraduate studies and the capacity to complete a doctoral degree in accordance with the research plan. The degree must be completed before the end of the application period.
If the selected person does not have a study right for a doctoral programme when they are selected, their title will firstly be project researcher until 31.5.2023 and they must apply for a doctoral programme during the next possible application period (Spring 2023). The salaries are determined in accordance with the University salary system for teaching and research personnel. For a doctoral researcher / project researcher , the salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience based on the University salary system and will in the beginning of the employment be approximately 2300-2400 €/month. For a doctoral researcher the trial period is six (6) months and for a project researcher the trial period is one (1) month.
