The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role in the data analysis characterizing the calorimeter response and studying the different backgrounds in order to obtain first results on 82Se double beta decay.
Join the activities of the LP2I group deeply involved in the commissioning of the detector and data analysis particularly for the calorimeter calibrations and radiopurity issues.
The SuperNEMO experiment searches for neutrinoless double beta decay of 82Se which is a process violating the global lepton number conservation. The observation of this decay would open a new physics window beyond the Standard Model and would prove that the neutrino is a Majorana particle, i.e. identical to its own antiparticle. Based on a unique tracker-calorimetry approach the experiment will be also able to study full kinematics of the standard double beta decay with neutrino emission providing new constraints for nuclear model calculations. The construction of the first SuperNEMO module ends in the Laboratoire Souterrain de Modane (LSM) and first data are now taken.Eligibility criteria
