  • - Validation and optimization of the approach on synthetic diffraction data using an existing forward model / code base (Python) - Explore different reconstruction strategies (individual grain versus joint, multi-grain reconstructions) and regularization options - Application to experimental data

    Development of an optimization framework for reconstruction of 3D crystal orientation fields from tilt series of scanning precession electron diffraction data acquired in STEM.

    The position is financed via the bi-national (French- German) project "3D SPED APT", aiming at the establishment of 3D orientation microscopy in STEM. Ultimately, the combination of 3D-SPED with atom probe microscopy will enable quantiTative analysis of grain boundary segregatIon phenomena. Partners: E. Rauch (SIMAP, Grenoble), W.     Eligibility criteria

    - Experience in mathematical optimization and/or tomographic reconstruction techniques - Proficient Python programming skills - Solid background in relevant field of physics (electron / X-ray diffraction, crystallography)
